Joseph Pilates created hundreds of moves through studying anatomy in depth..as a sickly child, he was fascinated with anatomy & how through exercise he could make himself stronger, fitter & healthier.
Born in germany, he was in the UK when he was interned in the War, and he used the bed springs of the sick inmates to make equipment to use as strength training in his exercise method he called Contrology, as the mind controls the body. He then went back to Germany and onto USA where he opened his New York Studio with his wife, Clara.
When he died in 1967 he was still coming up with new moves and ideas.....now his method is called Pilates it grows from strength to strength (much like your body will do if you practice regularly!) many people discover this amazing way to balance your body on a daily basis...and the one thing they all seem to say is...why didnt I practice Pilates earlier??
